About Netball

Netball is the world’s most popular team sport for women, and is played in over 70 countries by over 7 million people. Although Netball is more popular in Commonwealth countries, it actually got its beginnings in the United States as women’s basketball in 1895.

Netball is a fast, skilful, non-contact sport with seven people on each team. Unlike basketball each individual player is only allowed in certain areas of the court and only two people in each team are able to shoot goals.

To learn more about Netball rules, visit the International Federation of Netball Associations. At Checkers Netball Club we train and play indoors. For more information on what to expect the Thursday training sessions, please visit the Training page
